Rheonics DVP Gas & Liquid Density Viscosity Sensor

Rheonics DVP Gas & Liquid Density Viscosity Sensor

The Rheonics DVP measures density, viscosity and temperature of gases and light liquids from a single inline probe. It is built for demanding high-pressure work, including natural gas, LNG and other low-density fluids where conventional instruments struggle.

Like the rest of the Rheonics range, the DVP uses a balanced torsional resonator immersed in the fluid. Density shifts the resonant frequency and viscosity damps it, giving live readings every second that are not affected by flow variations or mounting position. The sensor is all titanium and hermetically sealed, with metal-to-metal process sealing and no elastomers.

Where it fits

  • Gas density and viscosity monitoring in pipelines and process plant
  • LNG density (custom cryogenic versions available)
  • High-pressure, high-temperature process and test rigs
  • Low-viscosity liquids, solvents and light hydrocarbons

Specifications

  • Density range: 1 to 1,500 kg/m³ (0 to 1.5 g/cc)
  • Density accuracy: 0.001 g/cc (1 kg/m³)
  • Viscosity range: 0.2 to 300 cP
  • Viscosity accuracy: 0.1 cP below 1 cP; 5% of reading standard, higher available
  • Reproducibility: better than 1% of reading
  • Process temperature: -40 to 200 °C (Pt1000 class AA built in); cryogenic LNG versions on request
  • Pressure: up to 1,000 bar depending on configuration
  • Wetted materials: titanium, no elastomers
  • Outputs: 4-20 mA, HART, Modbus RTU, Modbus TCP, EtherNet/IP, USB, Bluetooth LE
  • Approvals: IECEx and UL hazardous location certified
